Two Stuart Upper School students earned recognition at the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, one of the nation's most prestigious programs for young creatives. Anna Xu earned a national Gold Medal in the poetry category, placing her work among the most outstanding in the country. Fewer than 1% of the more than 100,000 annual submissions receive this distinction. Aroush Malik also earned a Gold Key, the highest regional honor, and an Honorable Mention for her poetry submissions.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, have celebrated the creative talent of teens in grades 7-12 since 1923. Entries are evaluated on the basis of originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice. Past winners include Sylvia Plath, Andy Warhol, and Amanda Gorman.
