Two Stuart students advance in Mott Million Dollar Challenge

Congratulations to Haylie Park '29 and Lauren Lee '27 for being selected as first-round winners in the Mott Million Dollar Challenge. The pair impressed judges with their creative skincare brand concept, Root to Glow, earning a $250 prize and advancing to the second round of the competition, set to wrap up around April 20.

Their idea, Root to Glow, blends time-honored Asian remedies with modern skincare, offering a fresh and holistic approach to beauty. Inspired by the powerful benefits of natural ingredients like teas used in traditional recipes, Haylie and Lauren set out to create products that nourish both the body and mind.

“We wanted skincare to be more than just surface-level,” they explained. “A lot of products today use harsh chemicals, and we wanted to offer something natural that helps people feel confident and comfortable in their own skin.”

The inspiration was drawn from memories of comforting teas and soups made by our mothers and grandmothers often used to ease everyday ailments like headaches and stomach aches while also providing comfort and care. They envisioned skincare that works in the same way—supporting inner balance while enhancing outer glow. Their message is simple but powerful: true radiance starts from within.

Participants were challenged to create a 60–90 second pitch video to submit to the judges. After brainstorming multiple ideas, they landed on Root to Glow and brought it to life in a pitch that, despite being filmed last-minute, stood out for its authenticity and charm. When they found out they had won, the moment felt unforgettable. “We didn’t know what to expect going in, so being recognized so early was incredibly exciting and validating.” 

As the competition continues, all eyes will be on Haylie and Lauren as they work to take Root to Glow to the next level and bring their vision of holistic skincare even closer to reality. Stuart is incredibly proud to have students like Haylie and Lauren representing the school with such creativity, passion, and innovation. Way to go, girls!
