Theology students author Lenten prayer book for the community

Students in Meghan Kocar's Discovering Women of Faith theology course have authored Lent Through Her Eyes: Reflections on Hope, Repentance, & Humility, a prayer book containing reflections for each Sunday of Lent, as well as many of the special holy days throughout the season, culminating in Easter. Each student chose to research a woman of faith who inspired her, and each entry includes a biography, a connection to the day's scripture, and a prayer, many of which the students composed themselves. Their selections represent a diversity of faith traditions, as well as the various themes we associate with Lent and Easter: suffering and humility, anticipation and hope.

The course explores the virtue of faith and the leadership of women throughout history, asking students to wrestle with a formidable question: What does it mean to be a woman of faith in our modern world? This prayer book is one answer, and it is brimming with the kind of substantive, interdisciplinary work that defines a Stuart education. Printed copies are being distributed to Upper School students and faculty, and a digital PDF is available here.

We wish our entire community a very blessed Lenten journey.
