Stuart sophomore’s photography featured on 2025 Christmas card

The 2025 Stuart Christmas card offers a familiar view of campus in a new light, featuring original photography by Sophie Bogumil ’28. Her image highlights the beauty and meaning of Stuart’s signature green brick walls—spaces that hold daily learning, reflection, and community—and reflects the school’s commitment to elevating student voice and creativity across the arts. Her photograph invites us to see the green bricks as a reflection of the traditions, care, and daily life of the Stuart community.

Reflecting on the experience, Sophie shared:

“I discovered my love for photography during an elective I took freshman year taught by Ms. Baldwin. During the class, I learned the basics of photography and got to practice my skills around Stuart and our local community. At the end of the course, our class submitted photos to a local art show, and two people ended up buying my piece.

This year, I was honored to be asked to take the picture for our school Christmas card, and it allowed me to see the special spaces of our school in a different light. Alongside photography, I have also operated the mic board for several shows, which gave me a behind-the-scenes look at how much effort goes into every performance. Learning the technical side of theatre helped me develop skills like staying calm under pressure and picking up changes quickly. These experiences have helped me grow my love for the arts, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had. I’m excited to keep exploring by continuing with Photography II in the spring and operating the mic board for the upcoming musical Mary Poppins!

We are grateful to Sophie for sharing her talent with our community and for offering a meaningful visual reflection of Stuart at Christmas.
