Grade 7 PBL addressed religious freedom in the United States

Grade 7 PBL addressed religious freedom in the United States

For this year’s seventh grade PBL, students considered the essential question: What and where would be an appropriate way to permanently demonstrate the significance of the First Amendment's freedom of religion?

The PBL started off with a field trip to Philadelphia where the students visited two houses of worship: a synagogue and a Quaker meeting house. This began their study of religious diversity in the US.

The final project for the PBL was for groups to design a monument in honor of religious freedom in this country. They also chose where to place this monument. Through the week they studied the history of religious freedom in the US, learned about  budgeting and how to write a formal business letter, and worked on computer generated 3-D designs in preparation for their final presentations.
