Stuart's eighth grade opened their year with the annual trip to our nation's capital. Their first stop was at Arlington National Cemetery for the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Four students, Imogen, Naomi, Karina and Sophie, had the honor of participating in the ceremony after being selected from an essay-writing exercise where students were tasked with expressing why they would be good representatives of Stuart.
The 3-day exploration of Washington D.C. included a self-guided tour of the monuments, dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, a ghost tour, and visits to the Spy Museum, Museum of African American History and Culture, the Capitol Building, the Botanical Gardens/National Archives, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the Museum of American History, and finally the Museum of Natural History before heading home.
Throughout the trip, the students were able to experience all five Goals of the Sacred Heart and, most importantly, got a chance to bond and grow together. Click here for more photos
