[VIDEO] Stuart fourth graders share what they learned about being a leader

Being a leader means something different to every girl who steps into the role. This year, our fourth graders moved through three Lead Like a Fourth Grader workshops — exploring identity and values in the fall, leading with heart in February, and shadowing the Stuart leaders who keep our community running in the spring.

The Goals and Criteria of the Sacred Heart anchor the program, serving as the foundation for every Stuart girl's leadership growth from her earliest years at school. At the heart of the year-long program is helping girls see that leadership is not something a girl grows into all at once. It lives in the small daily choices, the goal you set for yourself today, and the impact you decide to make. The girls live and practice the Goals every day, so their answers to define a leader come naturally. Stuart has given them the language to launch.

The mindset developed in fourth grade grows directly into the goal setting, self-advocacy, and community leadership that define Stuart's Cor Cordis program in Middle and Upper School. Leadership at Stuart is a practice, nurtured with intention from the very beginning.
