Goal I Week invites Lower School students to lead with love

As our community reflected on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and prepared to enter Catholic Schools Week, the Lower School marked Goal I Week with a simple and meaningful focus: Love as You Love.

Guided by Sacred Heart Goal I: a personal and active faith in God, students explored the idea that love is the foundation of faith.

During the Goal I Week Gathering, students came together for prayer, song, and shared stories. Through age-appropriate read-alouds, they explored themes of God’s unconditional love, kindness and forgiveness, shared humanity, and the understanding that faith is lived through everyday choices rooted in love.

Following the stories, students discussed how the characters showed love in action and shared ways they could do the same. Those reflections became visible in the Hearts in Action garlands now displayed around Millie’s Garden. On each heart, students wrote how they can show God’s love through kindness, inclusion, patience, and care for others. Together, the garlands offer a visual reminder that love is something we live each day.

By beginning with Goal I, students learn that love comes first. It shapes how they treat others, how they respond to differences, and how they grow within the Sacred Heart community—carrying this foundation with them as they continue their journey at Stuart.
