Early School Bunnies art show showcases a month-long study of world-famous artists

Over the past month, our ES3 Bunnies transformed into little artists as they explored the work of famous painters from around the world, including Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Piet Mondrian, Wassily Kandinsky, Yayoi Kusama, Vincent van Gogh, Alma Thomas, Pablo Picasso, and more. We also intentionally highlighted contemporary artists Kehinde Wiley and Reggie Laurent so our students could see a wider range of artistic styles, voices, and representation in the art world. Throughout this unit, the children created between one and three pieces of artwork inspired by each artist. Rather than copying famous paintings, students were encouraged to create their own versions using the artist's style, colors, shapes, and techniques as inspiration. The process focused on creativity, confidence, and self-expression. Using everyday classroom materials and common art tools, students explored painting, collage, stamping, lines, shapes, textures, color mixing, and abstract design in ways that felt playful, hands-on, and developmentally appropriate. Every project supported important preschool skills such as fine motor development, hand strength, focus, problem-solving, and creative thinking, all while giving children the freedom to make messy, meaningful art they were proud of. Yesterday's Art Show beautifully showcased not only the students' incredible work but also their growth as confident young creators. Walking through the gallery and seeing their excitement as they shared their artwork with family and faculty was truly special.
