Emily Ix's "Beauty and the Beast" set design for Stagecraft class

In addition to working on the 8th grade musical, A Little Mermaid, my Stagecraft class was tasked with planning and pitching a musical of our choice. I selected Beauty and the Beast and decided that my theme would be about "looking beyond what you can see with your eyes and into someone’s heart." After sketching out the scenes, we worked on our to-scale models made out of poster boards and wood. Throughout this experience, I learned a lot about problem solving and the creative brainstorming that goes into set design. In addition to our models, we presented our ideas regarding the cast, costumes and budget for our musical to professional designers. With Ms. Baldwin’s guidance and expertise, I was able to develop my innovative and artistic skills while learning about musical theater.
