VIDEO: Introducing Cor Cordis Center for Exceptional Leadership at Stuart
Coming in September 2024

Stuart Head of School Julia Wall recently announced exciting plans to transform the center of the school into a fully integrated hub that reflects Stuart's commitment to fostering a lifetime of leadership success through academic excellence, student support, and health and wellness. With a name derived from Latin, and Sacred Heart values as its foundation, the Cor (heart) Cordis (of the heart) Center for Exceptional Leadership puts the heart of the Stuart girl at the center of Stuart’s purpose.

This ambitious project, breaking ground this summer and opening in Fall 2024, is made possible through the generosity of early lead donors, Stuart’s board of trustees, alumnae, and parents, who raised over $1.1M, believing deeply in Stuart’s enduring mission of educating the whole child - outlined in our Faith in Her Future Strategic Plan. We are actively continuing our fundraising efforts and invite you to join us in realizing the full potential of this transformative initiative.

As a leading girls' school for 60 years, Stuart has guided students’ self-awareness, identifying their personal strengths, values, and interests and how these contribute to their unique capacity to lead effectively. This project demonstrates our ongoing commitment to promoting student success by adhering to the core pillars of agency, collaboration and curiosity in alignment with our Sacred Heart values:

  • Seeking an understanding of her spiritual core (Goal 1).
  • Accessing resources that bolster her academic success (Goal 2).
  • Identifying her gifts and talents for the betterment of the world (Goal 3).
  • Coming together to collaborate and build a positive culture (Goal 4).
  • Self advocating for her wellbeing (Goal 5).

With input and involvement from students, faculty and staff, Cor Cordis will utilize the existing footprint of the two floors surrounding the Stairway of Intellectuality to re-imagine and modernize the spaces to optimize Stuart's holistic approach to leadership development, including:

Academic Services:

  • Library
  • Technology Support
  • Writing and Math Labs
  • Learning Commons
  • Faculty Research Room

Wellness Services:

  • Counseling
  • Nurse
  • Campus Ministry and Sacred Heart Spiritual Center
  • Health and Wellness Classroom

Student Success Services:

  • National Center for Girls’ Leadership at Stuart
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)
  • College Counseling

The new space will be a visible reminder to students that seeking out resources is a power move for sustainable leadership. This is why I am incredibly pleased the project will soon commence. Please join me again in thanking our lead donors for their remarkable generosity which will benefit all Stuart students.
