Faculty Spotlight: Patrice Dias, Fifth and Sixth Grade History

Faculty Spotlight: Patrice Dias, Fifth and Sixth Grade History

Tell us about your role

At Stuart, I teach fifth and sixth grade history classes. I am also a fifth grade advisor and serve as the Team Lead for the fifth and sixth grade faculty.

What do you enjoy the most about your work?

Teaching the fifth and sixth graders brings much joy. Our time together in the classroom is filled with creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. It is rewarding to see the girls feel empowered through nurturing their intellect and encouraging their brave hearts.

Who/what had the greatest influence on your career path?

My great-aunt was a Sister of the Sacred Heart. She was a woman of gentle warmth and quiet strength. She has been a tremendous influence on me as I teach at Stuart.

What is your best piece of advice?

Just keep swimming! -Dory

Tell us about your research interests and/or recent professional development.

I am very interested in archaeology. As new discoveries are made, society is able to expand the story of the human condition. In the classroom, this helps my students to recognize that all people share the ups and downs/twists and turns of humanity.

The Fun Stuff:

Favorite Food:  Churros

Favorite Song:   Recently, I have been listening to Taylor Swift's Midnights album.
