Cor Cordis Speaker Series: Stuart welcomes Dr. Rebecca Boswell to speak on nutrition and body image in teenage girls

Cor Cordis Speaker Series: Stuart welcomes Dr. Rebecca Boswell to speak on nutrition and body image in teenage girls

On Monday, October 28, Stuart welcomed Dr. Rebecca Boswell to campus as the first special guest in the year-long Cor Cordis Speaker Series.

Dr. Boswell is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with individuals of all ages to promote wellness, resilience, and balance through life’s stressors. She serves as the program director of the Penn Medicine Princeton Center for Eating Disorders, is a member of the research faculty in the Princeton University Department of Psychology, a research consultant for Within Health, and the president of the Greater Philadelphia chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp).

In her student-led conversations in the Middle and Upper Schools, Dr. Boswell addressed themes of nutrition, healthy habits, and the body’s needs. She explored topics such as the effectiveness of various diets, the impact of perfectionism and societal beauty standards on young women, and the pervasive influence of social media and advertising. Acknowledging the pressures young people face today, she encouraged students to challenge unrealistic beauty standards and make informed, healthy choices. Later, Dr. Boswell met with parents and guardians—both from Stuart and the local community—for an open discussion on topics relevant to their lives. The conversation ranged from developing healthy eating habits to fueling student-athletes properly and recognizing the signs of disordered eating.

We’d like to thank Dr. Boswell for her time, expertise, and invaluable ability to connect with our students and parents on topics that resonate deeply within our community.

Our next speaker in the series will be Courtney Roselle, a fitness trainer and motivational speaker, on creating strength for your body and mind through physical fitness. Click here to register
