As a final project for their study of Beowulf, students from Ms. Hamblen's Honors British Literature class have been bursting forth throughout Stuart's public spaces this week to present their Anglo-Saxon boasts. As a long-standing Stuart tradition, students write boastful poems using elements of Anglo-Saxon poetics to tell of their past exploits and future conquests. In Beowulf's time, there was no shame in boasting, and our Stuart girls have not been shy in embracing this age-old form. Taking the crowd by surprise students have held forth with genuine Anglo-Saxon spirit and have been heartily cheered for their efforts.Click here to watch a few of the boasts in a playlist on YouTube.
