Congratulations to two Stuart Track Team members who were recognized by the Trenton Times for their outstanding performance this season. On Tuesday the Trenton Times named Michelle Kwafo '18 First Team All Area in the 100M Hurdles and First Team All Prep. The Times named Casey Nelson '17 to the First Team All Prep in the 1600M.
Junior Michelle Kwafo from Ewing had an outstanding season and peaked at exactly the right time this year, garnering 3 State Championship Titles at the NJISAA Prep B Track and Field Championship Meet. She led Stuart's record-breaking team with 36 points, setting a school record for the most points scored by one athlete at a track and field competition. Michelle earned state championship titles in both 100M and 100M hurdle events, placed third in long jump, and earned another gold medal as a member of Stuart's championship 4x100 relay team.
Senior Casey Nelson from Skillman finished her outstanding distance career at Stuart on a special high note at the Prep B Track Tournament, scoring in the 1600M and tying her own school record, and finishing second in the state in the 3200M event. Casey also led this year's successful Stuart Cross Country Team in the fall and was named to the All State First Team for the second straight year. Her performance at the Prep B track competition helped to cement Casey's title as possibly Stuart's greatest distance runner. As a National Merit Commended Scholar, Casey is a true scholar athlete and we wish her the best of luck as she heads to Brown University in the fall.
