The Stuart Track team made history this weekend! With many team members away on school conflicts, the team only entered its jumpers and sprinters where they combined to score the most points ever in its history at the MCT Relays. The underclassmen hurdles team of Priscilla Francois, Alex Ottomanelli, and Misha Meyers set the stage with a second place finish and school record in the 400 individual hurdles (2011 record).
Michelle and Heather Kwafo joined Priscilla and Misha in the shuttle hurdles for a second place and a new school record.
In the competitive 4 x 200 relay, the Stuart team also claimed a school record with Michelle, Priscilla, Captain Kendra Brenya and Alex on anchor. Michelle added a 16-foot long jump to her four-event day.
Jasmine Hansford, who ran both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400, claimed one of the top individual triple jumps as she teamed with Heather for a school record in the triple jump.
One of Stuart's most impressive performances of the day came from senior Captain Alison Walsh who tied her own school record in the high jump and had two close calls at 5'2". The whole team will be needed to compete at George School on Tuesday, and all will compete Saturday in a special Intrasquad meet at Lawrenceville as they prepare for an early season prep championship on May 7.
Thanks to the parents-days outside like these as you watch those you know compete are ones for your memory bank. We hope to get more team members next week to absorb these special moments.
