On Saturday before the forecasted snow, the Stuart indoor track team stormed their way to personal and seasonal best performances at a meet held at Lawrenceville. The team's success was led by Junior Heather Kwafo who had another school record in the triple jump and a personal best in the hurdles. Fellow junior Alex Ottomanelli had a personal best in the 400m and the hurdles. First-year junior Emerlee Simons had a personal best in the 55, 200 and 400m. Junior Aditi Mehndiratta had a personal record in the 55m. The other junior standout was Taj'hanna Tyson with a personal best in the shot put.
The Stuart sophomore and freshmen group also showed their potential. Cara Carr and Misha Meyer had a personal best in the triple jump and the hurdles. Holly Zhuang and Sophia Scheulov had a personal best in both the 55 and 200m. Kathryn Ix moved down from her distance event and had a personal record in the 200m. Olivia Giblin returned from injury and ran well in the 55m.
Freshmen standouts were Trinity Broughton and Jaelyn Bennett who each had a personal record in the 55, 200 and 400m. Noelia Manion had a personal record in both the long jump and triple jump. Jadyn Piotrowski also did well in both horizontal jumps.
Resting from illness were Melanie Burgess and Lia Bull-Kreig. Conflicts prevented Nora Flamer, Sarah Girgis, Caroline Letrent and freshman standout Audrey Blandford from participating.
Team captain senior Priscilla Francois - who was dealing with a strain - helped the younger ones how to execute.
We thank the Giblins for the post-meet snacks and the big parent turnout. Click here for photos.
