Middle School students earn accolades at virtual Model UN tournament

Recently, the Middle School Debate Team competed at the virtual Christian Brothers Academy Model United Nations tournament. While this was the first competition for many of the students, they did an outstanding job with Kathy Xiang ‘25 and Carolina Lopez-Watt ‘25 winning awards for writing the best and most persuasive position papers in their committees. Maggie Hammond ‘25 earned honorable mention for Best Delegate and Candace Beverly ‘25 won Outstanding Delegate in their respective committees. All of the students did an amazing job as they represented countries dealing with issues around women’s rights, the colonization of Mars, nuclear proliferation, responding to COVID in interscholastic sports, and in a historical reenactment how to negotiate issues surrounding the building of the Berlin Wall.
