Kindergarteners celebrate the "marriage" of Q & U

The reading program in kindergarten starts the year focusing on building stamina through multi-level reading bins and eventually individualized leveled readers. The writing program is a developmental program that is intertwined with the reading program, which insures each child’s skill level is individually targeted and helps her grow and develop at her personal pace. Phonics instruction supports our students on their path to becoming independent readers and writers, and the girls are learning in fun and interactive ways. Recently, the class celebrated the "marriage" of Q & U. This aligns with their phonics instruction and the rule that Q and U stick together like glue. The girls colored bride and groom stick figures and cheered "Happy Wedding!" to the two letters.
