I am Stuart Proud. I am an athlete, a friend, and a mathematician.

What are you looking forward to this year in the Middle School?

I am really looking forward to the regular basketball season at Stuart, participating on the CYO basketball league, and playing strong in this field hockey season. I love the friendship with our sports teams. We often times end the season with some sort of celebration and we also try to go see local Princeton University sports teams play.

Another thing I am looking forward to is the big seventh grade overnight trip. These trips really give us an opportunity to get to know everyone in the class. Having been in Stuart for going on my eighth year, I feel like I know everyone really well but this gives us an opportunity to know those new to our class and for them to know all of us better.

Lastly, I’m looking forward to going on the Belize trip this year with some of my classmates.  Here, at Stuart, I feel like we are bonded together better than if I went to public school. There are so many opportunities to get to know your Stuart sisters because 1) you change classes with different people every year, and 2) there are so many outside activities our classes do. Who you hang with outside of school this year may not be the same people next year.  At first, that may be a hard thing to get used to, but in the end, your circle grows.

What have been your favorite classes and experiences so far leading up to seventh grade?

Leading up to seventh grade, my favorite classes have been science and math, although, to be honest, I've enjoyed a lot of my classes.  I think our grade welcomes teachers that have a sense of humor and respond well to our goofiness. For instance, we are all happy to be back in Spanish with Señor Cordero.  He takes Spanish seriously but not us seriously. We are at a point where we enjoy humor but also realize that we need to get down to business and learn.

Having been at Stuart for almost eight years, where have you seen the most personal growth in all those years?

Some of my most memorable experiences at Stuart were made at Green and White Day. I always look forward to cheering on my friends in different grades and the intense moment of silence as Mr. Leith announces the winners. One thing I especially like about Green and White Day is the competitiveness, all the teachers and students are very into Green and White Day.  When I look back at this these days in my memory, I can’t help but smile.  Putting on the green war paint, green ribbons, and preparing to shout so loud you become hoarse are fun. Thinking of how competitive Mr. Missonis is makes me laugh every time. Those are fond memories.

I learned from these competitions to be a good sport and that I always want to be a good sport.  I know I feel better about myself when I walk away having behaved well. My internal voice is not bothering me even if I’m not happy about the loss.
