Stuart track team back in action after nearly two years without competition

Like many teams in the state, the Stuart track team has waited patiently to get back on the track and enjoy the thrill of competition that had been lost due to COVID.

A low key meet at Lawrenceville Saturday provided that opportunity, knowing times and distances were not as important as just getting started in a safe atmosphere.

The 4x100 relay of Trinity Broughton, Jadyn Piotrowski, Cara Carr and Misha Meyer finished third after just one day of baton practice (this was their first time running this event).

Misha placed in the triple jump and did well in the high jump and 100m hurdles. Fellow senior captain and 2019 county champ Cara had a top 3 finish in the triple jump and the long jump - all without having formal training in over a year.

Junior Jadyn got in two good performances in the 400m and 200m, Audrey Blandford placed first in the high jump, and Noelia Manion tied her personal best in the pole vault.

Senior Melanie Burgess had a personal best in the 800m after only three weeks of practice. Anna Momo ran her first track race and showed potential in the 800m.

In the weight events, senior captain Morgan John and her protege Mia Zebrauskas competed in the javelin, discus and shot put and showed excellent potential for the coming season.
