On Saturday, January 25, members of the Stuart community came together for a day of community service and community-building at Loaves and Fishes in St. Mary’s Cathedral on Perry Street in Trenton.
Each year on the last Saturday in January, Stuart provides a hot meal for guests at Loaves and Fishes in St. Mary’s Cathedral on Perry Street in Trenton. During this event, our community provides over 800 hot meals throughout the day and sends folks home with over 800 bagged lunches and hygiene kits. We have joined Loaves & Fishes on this particular day for over 35 years because it is a time of cold and scarcity. Many people need to put more money toward keeping warm and often go without sustenance. In addition, the food banks are lower at this time of year due to the holidays.
In preparation for this day, The Outreach Committee worked with SPA to collect donations of food, money and gift cards. The EC boys and girls also held a lemonade sale to raise money for mittens and gloves. On Friday afternoon, the Middle School packed 880 bagged lunches and 208 amenity bags to be handed out to the guests on Saturday.
Many thanks to all of our parents, students, faculty and staff who contributed to this special community-wide event. Click here for photos from Loaves and Fishes.
