Although there are several weeks of vacation remaining, the excitement for the beginning of a new school year is building! The faculty and staff are hard at work on upgrades to the curriculum, the facilities, and overall student experience. We have had faculty criss-cross the nation to present at and attend conferences on grading, leadership, technology and social emotional learning. As we prepare for the new year, we are excited to introduce several new members to the Stuart community.
Elizabeth Collins - Elizabeth taught third and fourth grades at the Peck School in Morristown, NJ and was an English language and creative writing teacher in Shanghai, China. She brings her training in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching literacy as well as Singapore Math and Responsive Classroom training. She has intermediate proficiency in Chinese and beginning proficiency in Spanish. Ms. Collins holds a BA in English Literature from Boston University and completed Chinese Language and Culture coursework at Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
Elisabeth Keeley-Cain - Lisa joins the Upper School as a full-time math teacher. Mrs. Keeley-Cain is a veteran math teacher who has taught middle and upper school math for the last 34 years in the public school system. For the last 18 years, she has taught AP Calculus BC, Honors Precalculus and everything in between and leading up to those courses. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Saint Mary's College and a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education from Rowan University.
Susy Kim - Susy Kim joins Stuart as the new Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid from Grey Nun Academy where she served as the Director of Admissions. Prior to joining education, Susy served in a variety of positions in the finance industry in both the Philadelphia and New York markets. Mrs. Kim holds both a BS in Chemical Engineering and MBA from the University of Michigan, and has earned her CFA.
Yi Liu - Yi Liu joins the Upper and Middle School as a math, economics, and financial literacy teacher. She is returning to the Princeton area after living and working in Hong Kong for the last nine years. Her experience in the financial industry is vast, and ranges from her leadership in organizations such as Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley. Dr. Liu holds a Bachelor of Science in Theoretical Physics from Fudan University in Shanghai, China, a Master of Science in Computational Chemical Physics from New York University, and a PhD in Computational Chemical Physics from New York University.
Greta Nelson - Greta Nelson returns to Stuart as a full-time Upper School English teacher. She has done numerous workshops, trainings, and professional development in English, health, and wellness. She comes to us with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Douglass College, Rutgers University; Teaching of English, Master of Arts from Teachers College, Columbia University; and a Professional Coaching Certificate in Integrative Health & Wellness from Duke Integrative Medicine from Duke University.
Joseph Petitto - Joe Petitto joins Stuart as the new Director of Admissions and Events after more than nine years in admissions at Notre Dame High School, where he served most recently as Associate Director of Enrollment Management and oversaw the school's Parent Ambassador network. Mr. Petitto holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Seton Hall University.
Best wishes from all of us at Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart for a wonderful last few weeks of summer. We can't wait to see you all back in September for a great 2019-20 school year!
