Maya Kuang '15, Strategy and Technology Project Manager

Maya’s journey reflects the very essence of Stuart’s Portrait of a Graduate marked by courage, vision, and service. After graduating from Stuart, she attended the United States Military Academy at West Point where she continued to develop a foundation in leadership, resilience, and strategic thinking.

She began her career at the Pentagon, working on national security and technology initiatives for the Secretary of Defense. During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Maya led the creation of the United States’ first web-based symptom checker—protecting thousands of service members at a critical moment.

Maya went on to earn dual graduate degrees in biotechnology and business from Johns Hopkins University. Today, she continues her mission at the intersection of defense, innovation, and public service—most recently stepping into a new leadership role with the Department of Homeland Security.

Beyond her professional achievements, Maya is a dedicated mentor to fellow veterans and young professionals. Through Afro-Cuban dance and drumming, she embraces the arts as a form of healing and connection—building bridges across cultures and communities.

Maya lives the Sacred Heart Goals through action. Her leadership is grounded in integrity, lifelong learning, and a deep commitment to sharing God’s love through service, compassion, and connection.
