Day in the Life: Maya M, Seventh Grade

Day in the Life: Maya M, Seventh Grade

What does a day in the life of a Stuart seventh grader look like? Maya Malaki gives us an inside look with her photo diary, documenting a day in her life for the Student Life Instagram account. From engaging classes to relaxing moments with friends, Maya shares her schedule along with reflections on what makes Stuart special to her. In addition to her notes below, Maya had this to say about what she loves about Stuart: “I love Stuart since it’s a safe space for me where I can express myself without being judged. There are many programs at Stuart that allow students to feel a sense of belonging.“

A Day in Maya's Life

  • 8:10 - 9:10 Period 1: History, Ms. McLaughlin: I started working on the amendments project! For this project, I am writing two paragraphs on the 1st amendment and creating a poster.

  • 9:10 - 9:25  Gouter: During Gouter(French for snack) we get to buy snacks during our late morning break, and discuss our plans for the weekend!

  • 9:25 - 10:20 Period 2: Cor Cordis, Ms. Ryan + Ms. Ezra: My class spent time discussing the movie “Odd Girl Out,” and the mental damage that occurs when bullying happens. I love Cor Cordis because it allows us girls a place to talk about our feelings and struggles. :)

  • 10:25 - 10:55 Flex/Clubs: Home Ec: Since it was a beautiful day outside, our club went out to enjoy the sun in Friendship Forrest. I love Home Ec since I get to learn many new skills!

  • 11:00 - 11:55 Period 3: Math, Ms. Lee: Our class has been working on solving linear and exponential functions. We spend the entire hour focusing on asking our questions and truly understanding the math.

  • 11:55 - 12:15     Lunch

  • 12:15 - 12:35 Recess: I went outside, relaxed, and hung out with friends.

  • 12:35 - 1:30 Period 4: Theology, Ms. Lesinski:  We read parables from the Bible and then answered a few questions. I always find these stories very interesting and discuss them with my grandma.

  • 1:28 - 1:30     Espacio

  • 1:35 - 2:30 Period 5: English, Ms. Larson : In class we got to read our IRPs which stands for Independent Reading Project. You get to read a book of your choice and then choose an exciting project about the book.

  • 2:30 - 3:10 Advisory, Ms. Aubourg: AcAd is where you can finish your homework, ask teachers questions, and focus on your studies. This is my advisory!

  • AfterCare: Since I am a member of the Middle School choir called “Voices,” I stayed in aftercare for an hour before choir practice began. I like using this time to do my homework and chat with friends.

  • 4:15 Stuart Voices, Ms. Lewis:  Voices is an after school extra curricular MS choir. We learn new and exciting songs so we can sing them at special events. My favorite song that we are working on is Carol of the Bells!
