Eighth Grade Sacred Heart Exchange
In eighth grade at Stuart, girls have the opportunity to participate in an academic exchange program with a student from another school from our Sacred Heart Network of Schools throughout North America. The program started ten years ago with one Stuart girl exchanging with a student from Sacred Heart Schools in San Francisco. This past year, thirteen students traveled to nine different schools across the U.S. and Canada, including Seattle, San Francisco, Halifax, New Orleans, Greenwich, Michigan, Bethesda, Miami, St. Charles, Bryn Mawr, St. Louis and Chicago.
Students spend a week living with her exchange student's family and attending school during Spring Break, and her Sacred Heart exchange sister travels to Princeton in a reciprocal exchange. As a result of this program, our girls have often become very close with their exchange families, developing deep friendships.
When the girls return to Stuart, they share their experiences with their Stuart sisters by presentations to the faculty and students in the Middle School. This serves not only as a leadership opportunity for the student, but everyone can benefit from learning about how life may be different, or the same, at other Sacred Heart communities across North America.
