Cor Cordis Speaker Series
The Cor Cordis Speaker Series complements the Cor Cordis curriculum and mission through thought-provoking discussions led by experts and community partners on a range of themes, including spirituality, neuropsychology and neuroscience, nutrition and disordered eating, fitness and body image, neurodiversity, service and leadership in action, and identity and leadership. These programs and workshops are designed to engage students and adults in meaningful dialogue on timely topics, enhancing their understanding of the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit in developing confident, self-aware, and purpose-filled leaders.

Courtney Roselle will lead a presentation on how taking care of your body physically can help produce a stronger mindset and bring out the strength that lies within. She will cover key topics on the importance of strength training, getting comfortable with creating a health and wellness plan that works for you, and how to transition daily habits for a healthier lifestyle. This presentation will provide self-help tools to help people gain confidence in their own health and wellness journeys.

Emotion language and regulation for youth wellbeing

Emotions are a cornerstone of wellbeing. This session will cover emerging evidence connecting the words people use to how they manage (or regulate) those emotions. We will discuss studies on phenomena like emotion differentiation (specifically identifying one's emotions) and linguistic distancing (using language to 'take a step back' from upsetting situations).

Supporting Nutrition and Body Image in Teenage Girls

Rebecca Boswell, Ph.D., will lead a presentation on supporting nutrition and body image in teenage girls. The session will cover key topics including the nutritional needs of teens, especially athletes, and how parents can navigate discussions around body image. Attendees will also learn to recognize early signs of disordered eating and promote healthy habits. The presentation aims to equip parents with the tools to support their daughters' growth and well-being.
This talk is open to adults. Dr. Boswell will speak to students during the day.
