We are proud to be an independent, Catholic girls’ school and part of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, which means our community is guided by a set of values: a personal relationship with faith, lifelong curiosity, social justice, community and personal growth. These values resonate widely in our pluralistic school community, and we believe they’re part of what it means to be a well-rounded, thoughtful and compassionate adult.
This global network of 150+ Sacred Heart schools gives our students extraordinary opportunities to experience the world through exchange trips and cross-cultural learning. The common ground of a Sacred Heart education means students connect quickly with peers in places as varied as Sydney, Australia or New Orleans, Louisiana, diving deeply into new cultures and perspectives.
Signature Network Experiences at Stuart
Sacred Heart Academic Exchange Program
Every Upper School student at Stuart has the opportunity to study abroad at one of our 150 sister Sacred Heart schools around the globe.
Our young women spend at least two weeks living with students and attending classes in cities such as Lima, Peru; Sydney, Australia; Paris, France; as well as closer to home in San Francisco, New Orleans, Montreal and many more. Our students reciprocate by hosting their “SHAEP sisters” at Stuart, enriching the entire Stuart community, and fostering international connections that can last for life.
Exchange opportunities begin in eighth grade at Stuart and include several local, national and international options for travel, study and exchange.
Retreats with regional sister schools
Stuart partners with Sacred Heart schools in the region for retreats grounded in our shared mission. Hosted on both campuses, these retreats include leadership opportunities for Upper School students, who help guide the activities for their younger peers.
Retreats like this let girls meet peers from another Sacred Heart school and discover, often within minutes, how much common ground they already share. What begins as an icebreaker becomes a lasting friendship, built on the same Goals and Criteria that shape a Stuart education.
Athletic tournaments
Stuart hosts Network play in field hockey, basketball, and volleyball, with the volleyball tournament as the largest consortium of Sacred Heart play among schools across the country. These partnerships offer a holistic and enriching experience, uniting Sacred Heart students in their shared love of the sport.
Beyond the matches, girls form unique connections with Sacred Heart students from other schools, discovering both the similarities and the differences between campuses. Bonding over a shared love for volleyball and shared Sacred Heart traditions, our students gain new perspectives, new friendships, and connections that last well beyond the tournament.
Network Student Advisory Committee (NSAC)
Each year, students across the Network of Sacred Heart Schools have the opportunity to apply for a seat on the Network Student Advisory Committee, helping shape programming, dialogue, and service opportunities for peers at all 25 member schools.
For the Stuart girls selected, the role is a chance to bring her voice to a conversation that spans the country, working alongside student leaders from other Sacred Heart schools to advance the Goals and Criteria in real, tangible ways. It is student leadership in its truest Sacred Heart form: in service of something larger than herself.
Associated Alumnae and Alumni of the Sacred Heart (AASH)
A Stuart education does not end at graduation. Through the Associated Alumnae and Alumni of the Sacred Heart (AASH), our graduates join a national community of more than 40,000 women and men educated in Sacred Heart schools, united across 45 member associations.
Wherever a Stuart alumna goes next, whether across the country or across the world, she has access to a ready-made community that shares her values and her formation. The connections she built at Stuart do not stop when she leaves; they simply grow.
