The Upper School cross country team had its best finish in 10 years at the Prep B State Championships at Blair Academy on Wednesday. With junior Allie Rounds finishing 8th overall and being backed up by junior Miranda Maley, senior Sonia Mohandas, sophomores Jasmine Hansford and Alex Ottomanelli and freshman Melanie Burgess.
Without junior Gracie Sheppard (the team's second place finisher all season), it meant the rest of the team had to step-up. Allie moved into Stuart's top 5 on the course, with Sonia on the list already, Miranda, Jasmine, Alex and Melanie added their names to the course list. With almost all team members back next year and some talented eighth graders from Coach Collins' team, the future looks even brighter for the cross country team.
We thank team captains Sonia and Allie Burgess for their leadership and fellow seniors Diana Tian, Jalynn Spaulding and Sharon Song and freshman Kathryn Ix for their support. We also appreciate the exceptional family involvement all season. Again thanks to the Rounds family, the Mohandas family (good food) and all the parents who were there rooting for the girls.
