"History was made today, on February 24, 2017, with the first Fourth Grade Assembly for Black History Month at Stuart." Quote from student representatives from the fourth grade at Friday morning's assembly. The girls delivered historical information and highlighted several African-American innovators whose contributions have been inspirational - from George Washington Carver to Katherine Johnson to Michael Jackson ... including Augustus Jackson, the "father of ice cream." The 30-minute presentation was incredibly educational and our Lower School girls' research and presentations – and even their dancing to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" – were inspirational in their own right!
