A 5K Run Benefitting Stuart's
Visiting Author Program.

Perfect running weather prevailed at the first-ever Poetry in Motion 5K Run May 2, 2008. More than 200 runners (and walkers) gathered at Stuart to join in the fun. The proceeds benefitted the Visiting Author Program at Stuart. The event was organized in honor of Vickie Flournoy McCarthy, 71 an alumna and beloved English teacher at Stuart. The Visiting Author Program was a dream of Mrs. McCarthy, who lost a courageous battle with cancer November 2007. Funds raised through this event will bring prominant authors to Stuart who will share their knowledge and experiences with the students. Click here for race results. A great time was had by all and we are looking forward to next year's event!
