Chess is a wonderful educational tool. Chess teaches a “can-do” approach to learning. Children learn to plan logically, to anticipate consequences, to calculate advantages, to persist in finding the solution. These problem-solving skills apply to math, science and verbal learning.  Studies show that children who learn chess make academic advances beyond their non-chess playing peers.
