Janet Stuart Scholar Program 2008-2009
Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart derives its name from Janet Erskine Stuart, a much-loved educator and member of the Religious Society of the Sacred Heart. Known for her “deep respect for intellectual values” she was committed to helping each of her students develop a passion for learning. The Janet Stuart Scholar Program is also named for this exceptional woman and is open to eighth grade students applying to enter Stuart's ninth grade in September.
Through the program, incoming ninth grade students are eligible for the Janet Stuart Scholarship, which is one-half of the tuition for four years in the Upper School at Stuart. Scholars will be chosen from the pool of candidates who have completed the application process for the 2008-09 academic year as well as Stuart's current eighth grade students.
Scholars will be chosen on the basis of:
- A completed application submitted by January 25, 2008
- Record of academic work (including teacher recommendations)
- Results of the SSAT (last accepted test date January 12, 2008)
- The essay written at the time of the SSAT
The Upper School Admissions Committee will review the completed applications and make recommendations to the Scholar Committee. All candidates must fulfill the requirements of the admission process in order to be considered. Admission interviews will be conducted for prospective students during their visits to the school. The selected candidates will be notified in the spring.
Please call the Admissions Office if you have questions at 609-921-2330 x274.
