Financial Aid at Stuart

Financing your Sacred Heart Education

A Sacred Heart education is an investment in your daughter’s future.  Providing an independent school education requires careful financial planning.

Ever since its founding, Stuart has been committed to offering financial aid to qualified applicants who provide evidence of need.  Currently, approximately 16% of our student body receives financial aid.

How to apply for Financial Aid
Stuart is a member of the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), a service of the National Association of Independent Schools.   SSS assists independent schools in determining a family’s financial need.  Families must submit a Parents Financial Statement (PFS) by the published deadlines in order to be considered for financial aid. The PFS forms are available from the Financial Aid office at Stuart as well as from the School and Student Service for Financial Aid, www.nais.org/financialaid/sss.

Financial Aid Deadlines

January 25, 2008 :  A completed Parent Financial Statement must be submitted to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid.  It is recommended, if possible, that the PFS be completed online at https://sss.ets.org.  The form will be available on November 15, 2007.  For their records, parents should print a copy of their completed report.  A report should be sent to Stuart (code # 7534) and parents should send a copy to themselves (code #9000)

Families who are applying for financial aid for the first time for the 2008-2009 academic year should submit to the Financial Aid office at Stuart a complete and signed copy of their tax returns for the two tax years prior to entrance, including all supporting schedules, plus W-2s and, if applicable, partnership/sole proprietorship and/or corporate returns.  No financial aid award will be made unless a student has been accepted or re-enrolled to the school and all the necessary documentation has been received by the stated deadlines.

February 15, 2008 :  In order for all applicants, both returning and new, to complete their applications for assistance, a complete and signed copy of their IRS return for the current tax year, ending December 31, 2007, is required.

The Financial Aid Committee meets in the spring to review requests for the following year.  New applicants applying after the deadline for financial aid, will be considered if funds are still available.

Questions about the financial aid process at Stuart may be directed to the Director of Financial Aid, Anne Pierpont at 609-921-2330 x275, apierpont@stuartschool.org.

Tuition Payment
There are two options for tuition payment.  The method is elected as part of the enrollment agreement.  Under the regular option, tuition is billed biannually.  Half of the tuition is due on July 15 and the second half is due on December 1.  The second option is a 10-payment plan administered by Academic Management Services, which allows for monthly payments.
