RESOURCES

PLEASE NOTE:

The MSRC is a nut-free zone.  For the health safety of others, please respect this request.

Middle School is considered to be one of the most critical times in human development.  This is especially true for young women as they experience a variety of physical, emotional, and academic changes and challenges.  Every child has her own developmental timetable.  This timetable oftentimes is not consistent within each formal stage of development.  At Stuart the Middle School program endeavors to meet the needs of this ever-changing and maturing population.  It is hoped that within the classroom setting there will exist for the students an environment that promotes strong values, provides emotional and academic support, and encourages a genuine passion for learning.

From sixth to eighth grade, students move from self-contained classroom settings found in the Lower School to more departmentalized learning centers enabling them to work cooperatively on subject-area projects as well as community or more global related issues.  In addition to the formal academic curriculum, community service activities, athletic teams and after-school classes offer additional extra and co-curricular opportunities for students.

The Middle School has as its ever-present inspiration the five goals of Sacred Heart education.  These goals provide for the Middle School community a foundation which one hopes will instill in each student enough self-knowledge, sense of purpose and energy to serve her well on her journey.
