Uniforms

ALL CLOTHING MUST BE MARKED WITH SEWN-IN OR PRESS-ON NAME TAGS.  THIS POLICY INCLUDES UNIFORMS, SOCKS, BLOUSES, SNEAKERS, BOOTS, MITTENS, ETC.

Lower School Uniforms

Uniforms are worn in Grades K-8.  Uniforms may be ordered at any time from either Flynn & O'Hara Uniforms or Lands' End School Uniform Division.  Both companies offer the uniform selections we have chosen. 

Flynn & O'Hara offers a 10% return on all uniform purchases and have created a specific page on their website for Stuart Lower School students.  To place an order on-line follow the below directions:

    Go to www.flynnohara.com
    2. click on the button in the bottom right corner marked “Order On-Line”.
    3. If you are already a registered user enter your e-mail address and password under the “Your School Store” Section
    4. If you are not a registered user, click on register in the “Your School Store Section”
  4. After following step 2 or 3, you will be able to “Shop for Student” / “Edit Student” / “Add Student”.

    a.  You will be able to “Shop for Student” once you have "Added" or "Edited Student".

    b. You “Add Student” by entering Gender, Grade level, State, City, and finally choosing the School and division from the drop down menu.

    c. You “Edit Student” annually either to change grade level or division level so that the student gets the appropriate uniforms.

    After you have "added" or "edited" your student shopping on-line is self-explanatory!

We are also part of the Lands' End Uniform Preferred School Program which gives Stuart a 3% return on all uniform purchases.  Make certain to order from the Lands End UNIFORM website should you place your order online.  When placing an order with Land's End please use our perferred school number, 900025313.  There are a variety of choices with this company and we ask that you choose only from what is approved for our dress code. It is our hope that these two suppliers will satisfy your uniform needs and you will not shop elsewhere as we want to standardize our uniform while still permitting personal style choices. The uniform for Lower School students is the following:

In the Fall/Spring:

FALL (September through the first Monday in November)
SPRING (The first Monday after Spring Break through June)

  • Plaid Jumper (hunter/ classic navy plaid, all styles acceptable)
  • Navy Chino Shorts
  • Navy Chino Skorts ( please make certain that the length is age appropriate, no more than two fingers above the knee is a good rule of thumb, keeping in mind that the girls grow througout the year).
  • Red or White Short Sleeve Polo Shirts
  • White Short Sleeve Blouses

In the Winter

WINTER (The first Monday in November up to Spring Break)

  • Plaid Jumper (any style provided by either distributor)
  • Navy Chino Pants (variety of styles available through both vendors).
  • Navy Corduroy Pants
  • Navy Chino Skorts (please make certain that the length is age appropriate, no more than two fingers above the knee is a good rule of thumb, keeping in mind that the girls grow througout the year).
  • Red or White Long Sleeve Turtlenecks or Polo Shirts
  • White Long Sleeve Blouses

All Seasons

SWEATERS:  Cardigan, Crew style sweaters or fleece Vests in RED or NAVY BLUE

SHOES:  Oxford ties, Mary Janes, T-Strap, Penny Loafers, all weather Mocs style shoes in navy, black, red/burgandy, brown or camel/tan.  (If your child needs a special fit, shoes may be purchased elsewhere but MUST be similar in style to those featured in the Lands' End School Unifrom Catalogue.) 

SOCKS OR TIGHTS:  White, Red or Navy Blue (below the ankle socks and socks with a pattern are not permitted.)

JEWELRY/MAKE-UP:  No jewelry is to be worn with the uniform or brought to school.  Only watches and small, appropriate earrings for pierced ears are acceptable.  Make up and/or nail polish are not to be worn to school.

GENTLY USED UNIFORMS:  The Stuart Parent Association organizes a gently used uniform collection. This selection of uniform items are located in a room near the SPA Office located on the second floor of the school.  The cost to purchase is nominal and the front desk in the Main Hall will be able to direct you to it's location.

ART & GYM:  Besides the uniform, children will need an art smock (old shirt, etc.), an extra sweater, and sneakers to be kept in their lockers.  Gym Uniforms are worn in grades 3-5 and can be purchased from the Physical Education teachers after the start of the school year. Cost is $10 per shirt and $10 per pair of shorts, two sets are recommended.

Parents are requested to adhere to this uniform policy carefully.  If a student will be out of uniform on a given day, a note from home to the Head of Lower School is requested.  Otherwise, appropriate measures will be taken.
