The Faculty at Stuart
Stuart's greatest asset is its faculty and staff, a group of approximately 125 individuals dedicated to the mission of Sacred Heart education, most of which have advanced degrees in their fields.
The tradition of Sacred Heart education began in 1800 and has touched the lives of millions of young women all over the world. A Sacred Heart educator participates in an educational mission demanding trust, enthusiasm, commitment, and academic excellence. Many rewards are realized through guiding and educating young women to reach out for meaning and direction in their lives.
The role of the administration is to lead and support the faculty by providing encouragement, professional growth opportunities, and material resources. The professional development of the faculty is fostered through evaluation, in-service training, and professional mentoring. Each year, funds are budgeted to enable faculty members to participate in workshops and seminars in their fields. Stuart's faculty sabbatical program, established in 1986, provides an opportunity for faculty members to reflect on and renew their professional lives.
