College Guidance

Stuart’s college counseling program aims not to simply match students with the “best” colleges, but to have each girl find the college that best fits her strengths and aspirations.

Our full time Director of College Counseling, Mr. Harris B. Siegel brings more than 40 years experience to each family. The process begins in the sophomore year with pertinent mailings. In the winter of the junior year Mr. Siegel begins the individual process with each student and her family.  Individual and group meetings continue throughout the junior and senior years to guide students through the selection and application process. Programs are offered to educate our girls and their parents throughout the entire process of gaining acceptance to college.  In both the junior and the senior years, a college guidance class meets once each weekly cycle with the girls to ensure their progress in the process.

Stuart graduates enroll at a range of colleges and universities across the nation and abroad, where they report that the outstanding education they received at Stuart places them among the top students at their respective colleges and opens up a variety of options for them in their post secondary education. In particular, they report that they have excellent writing skills and show real mastery of concepts in the many academic disciplines. The disciplined study habits they learned at Stuart consistently give them the ability to succeed in college and beyond

The group programs we hold annually to educate our students and families about the admissions process include the following:

  • Deans Day: college representatives spend time in our Stuart classrooms, where they come to appreciate the rigor of our program and the work ethic of our students.
  • Mock Decision Night: where parents and students, led by experienced college deans of admission, examine actual applications, transcripts and recommendations and decide which student to accept, waitlist or deny.
  • Two College Fairs where students can meet more than 100 college representatives.
  • College Representative Visits: approximately 75 representatives from college and universities visit Stuart to meet with our students.
  • Playing Athletics in College presentation
  • Breakfasts to discuss the transition to college
